ChorusAlert

What is ChorusAlert?

ChorusAlert is a SAAS (Software as a service) product that allows you to communicate with a large number of people, quickly and reliably.  ChorusAlert uses a web based application that makes selection of groups of people simple and quick, so that targeted, timely messaging can occur.  Alerts can be triggered by Web, Phone or Email.  Voice recording and TTS (Text to Speech) are both supported for calls.  Text messaging supports both SMTP Text and SMS Text, while also supporting E-mail. This ensures that your messages arrive within minutes to all of the people you are contacting. This is an added bonus to school systems, churches, and businesses needing to reach a large number of people in the quickest, most cost efficient way.

ChorusAlert Web Application

The ChorusAlert members is a Silverlight based web application that runs on either Windows or Apple PCs.  It provides a desktop application look and feel, but runs inside of a web browser.  It has been designed to be user friendly and very intuitive.

Quality

Calls are placed via VOIP using state of the art, carrier-grade service providers.  Calls complete using Tier-1 carriers that use stable routes and have unparalleled service and call quality.  All calls are placed using µLaw (mu-law) encoded using a 64 Kbit/s data rate, this provides exceptional voice quality to your messages.  This is the maximum quality available through the phone network.  Other providers may use GSM (typical cell phone quality – uses around 5 times less bandwidth than µLaw, but, voice quality suffers) or G.729(same issues as GSM, lower quality but uses less bandwidth) encoding, leading to less bandwidth used and lowering their bandwidth cost, but, at the cost of voice quality.

Reliability

The ChorusAlert servers are hosted in SAS 70-I certified data centers.

Each data center has:

  • Dual city grid power feeds, battery backup, and on-site generator
  • FM 200 server-safe fire suppression system with pre-fire detection mechanisms
  • Automatic temperature and climate control systems with humidity and temperature sensors located throughout the facilities
  • Biometric and key card security system
  • Staffed 24x7 by data center technicians and engineers and monitored remotely
  • Redundant optical networks provide world class connectivity

Back up servers synchronize with the main server, so that there would be minimal impact if a catastrophic event occurred.  Back up servers load share calling volume, leading to increased scalability and reliability.
